In the mid-20th century, scientists and artists alike dreamed of the future. In 1968, filmmaker Stanley Kubrick made this dream a reality with his vision 2001: A Space Odyssey. The film is about human nature and the nature of machines, about evolution and eternity in front of the immeasurable spectrum of the universe. It captivated generations of viewers and is one of the most influential films of all time. The film was ahead of its time in 1968, but seems more relevant today than ever.

2001: A Space Odyssey tells the story of two astronauts who are assigned to explore an area on the edge of the solar system in the spaceship Discovery. At first the company goes according to plan, but over time, inexplicably, increasingly serious problems arise. The film begins as an adventure of sorts. However, it then develops into a completely different kind of adventure that takes us not only into the unknown depths of the universe, but to the origin of life itself.
