One month before the end of the year, the Aargauer Kunsthaus opens its doors to regional art and presents the Auswahl in collaboration with the Aargauer Kuratorium. The diversity, dynamism, and potential of Aargau’s artists are on display in 50 works. This year, 151 submissions were received. The jury, jointly appointed by the Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Aargau Kuratorium, decides which artists will be included in the Auswahl 26.

As part of the selection process, the Aargauer Kuratorium awards grants for works in the fields of visual arts and performance.

Under the title Morphing Fossil, Levent Pınarcı (*1989, Aarau*) presents new works in this year’s exhibition that intertwine family history with the industrial history of Aargau. Drawing on research in his family archive, Pınarcı explores the history of his relatives as Turkish guest workers at Bally and Kern. Morphing Fossil conceives of the archive as a fluid form of archaeology: fragments, gaps, and material traces give rise not to fixed reconstructions, but to speculative forms of memory.

Please note: The collection will be closed during Auswahl 26. The rooms on the upper and lower floors will exclusively display works from Auswahl 26. Collection 27 will reopen in January 2027.
