The Swiss Federal Art Collection is not well-known, although the Swiss Confederation has been collecting art from Switzerland since 1890 and, later on, design objects as well. Today, the collection comprises over 22,500 works. This largely hidden cultural heritage can now be explored at the Aargauer Kunsthaus, where Swiss art from all corners of the country is on display. Spanning three floors, the exhibition tells the unique story of this collection – from the dialogue between art and government, to its significance for Switzerland today.
