Anna Iduna Zehnder (1877 – 1955) was a physician and painter. Her lifestyle, unusual for a woman of her time, as well as her artistic and medical talents made her an important Aargau figure. After receiving her medical degree in 1914 and practising for several years in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, Anna Iduna Zehnder and her partner moved to Ascona in 1918, where she increasingly applied herself to her other passion, painting. She attended Arthur Segal’s art school and liaised with major figures of the European avant-garde. The Aargauer Kunsthaus presents the first monographic museum show of the artist, showing a survey of Anna Iduna Zehnder’s surprisingly fresh and high-quality artistic work.
