Art for the Kunsthaus. Editions of the Aargau Art Association 1991 – 2013 is the Aargauer Kunsthaus’s first survey of all of over 50 artists’ editions produced for the museum. Most of the editions were issued by the Aargau Art Association in conjunction with special exhibitions and to support the Aargauer Kunsthaus, reflecting the artists’ close ties to the Kunsthaus. In their wealth they cover a strikingly wide range of printing and photographic techniques as well as a variety of other media such as sculpture, light object and video.

The editions provide instructive insights into the work of artists such as Silvia Bächli, Franz Gertsch, Renée Levi, Urs Lüthi, Markus Raetz, Roman Signer, Hugo Suter, Fiona Tan and Mark Wallinger. Moreover, the works reflect a remarkable panorama of tendencies in art, ranging from abstraction and playful, fantastic and visionary imagery through to critical examinations of the world, our culture and its images.

The interested public will have the opportunity to acquire editions from the exhibition and thus personally own a work by a top artist at a moderate price. In this way Art for the Kunsthaus will continue to have an impact beyond the limited duration of the exhibition at visitor’s homes. Moreover, a special edition by the well-known Bern artist Markus Raetz will be issued in conjunction with this exhibition.
