The Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Aargauer Kuratorium jointly present Auswahl 13, the traditional annual exhibition of Aargau artists.

Since 2004, this annual exhibition provides an opportunity for local artists to present their work to a wide public. Artists who have lived in Aargau for the past two years or who lived continuously in Aargau for at least 15 years sometime in the past, or who help shaping Aargau cultural life through their work or actions, can apply for inclusion in the exhibition as well as for work grants offered by the Aargauer Kuratorium. In October, two expert juries, one on behalf of the Aargauer Kunsthaus and the other on behalf of the Aargauer Kuratorium, have independently judged the submitted works.

This year, a total of 206 artists have submitted their files by the end of September. Out of these, 49 Aargau art practitioners have been invited by the juries to present their works in Auswahl 13. The resulting exhibition offers a wide-ranging and stimulating survey of current artistic practices in the Canton of Aargau.

At the exhibition opening on 6 December, 2013, the Aargauer Kuratorium awarded its grants for work in the visual arts to Patricia Bucher, Sonja Feldmeier, Florian Gasser, Daniel Robert Hunziker and Andreas Zybach. At the same time the Neue Aargauer Bank presented its annual advancement award to Aurelio Kopainig.
