Auswahl 16 offers artists from the Canton of Aargau an attractive platform to present their most recent work to a wide public. In 2016 as in previous years, local art production is characterised by great formal and thematic diversity. At the end of each year, the Auswahl is presented jointly by the Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Aargauer Kuratorium.

Artists who reside in the Canton of Aargau or who are in a special way connected to the cultural life in the canton can apply for inclusion in the exhibition. Two separate expert juries, one on behalf of the Aargauer Kunsthaus and one on behalf of the Aargauer Kuratorium, have independently judged the submitted dossiers and extended invitations to 72 artists to show their most recent works as part of the Auswahl 16.

At the opening on 2 December, the Aargauer Kuratorium will award its grants for work in the visual arts and performance and NEUE AAGAUER BANK AG will present its advancement award to a young artist.
