A sharp observer of the everyday and the seemingly obsolete, Zurich artist Esther Kempf cultivates an ironic and playful take on ordinary objects such as pieces of furniture or books. She may also use milk cartons, adhesive tape, matches or indoor palm trees as materials for her installations. By meticulously arranging these, the objects acquire a new and surprising identity. As the point of departure for her multilayered installation pieces, Esther Kempf explores physical processes and tries to find the point of intersection between illusion and reality.
