Flowers to Art
Floral interpretations of works from the collection of the Aargauer Kunsthaus
Flowers to Art, an exhibition at the beginning of spring at the interface between art and floristry, can be seen for the first time in Switzerland at the Aargauer Kunsthaus.
Twelve outstanding florists – from up-and-coming talents to experienced grand masters – have each worked on a piece from the Aargauer Kunsthaus collection. The result is an exciting dialogue between artwork and floral interpretation. The art-historically interesting and multifaceted relationship between flowers and art is taken up in a new way. Additional levels of perception and approaches to the familiar paintings and sculptures are opened up. The spectrum of floristically ‘played’ works ranges from Albert Anker’s Kinderbegräbnis from 1863 to Cuno Amiet’s Die violette Japanerin (Savada) from 1933 and a contemporary work by Albrecht Schnider.
The dialogue element on which the exhibition is based is continued in the extensive educational programme with florists and art historians.
Flowers to Art is a joint project of the FLOWERS TO ARTS association and the Aargauer Kunsthaus.
