Rolf Winnewisser
Split Horizon

Rolf Winnewisser (born 1949) is one of the most interesting Swiss artists of his generation. He enjoyed great success early on and inspired and moved many people. He was in close contact with artist friends such as Theo Kneubühler, Aldo Walker, Martin Disler and Hugo Suter. After several solo presentations and important exhibition participations, things have quietened down for him in recent years. Nevertheless, he has continued to work on his rich and multi-layered oeuvre and has also cultivated intensive exchanges with writers. Now he is ready to be rediscovered.

The exhibition at the Aargauer Kunsthaus is the first major solo exhibition featuring works from over 30 years. In addition to drawings and paintings, it also brings together objects and installations, presenting Rolf Winnewisser as an artist who breaks down and constantly shifts the boundaries between media as well as between image and word. From different perspectives, he explores how images are created and what determines them.
