We currently offer assignments in the following five areas:

• Helping hands in mediation

Volunteers support the placement centre with its numerous events for families and children. They help to run the programme and support those responsible for looking after the children.

• Hosts at events and exhibitions

Volunteers support the Aargauer Kunsthaus in organising various larger events and are therefore a valuable help in guiding and directing visitors. Volunteers are also in direct contact with the public as hosts at some temporary exhibitions.

Making the collection visible

A central concern is to familiarise visitors with our collection on site in a playful way. Volunteers do this, for example, with the digital education room Sammlung Aargauer Kunsthaus – DIY! or by supervising an augmented reality tour.

Barrier-free assistance

At the Awakened Art Stories event, volunteers support people with dementia in various situations. At selected events, e.g. for people with visual or hearing impairments, the volunteers literally act as door openers, greeting people, helping to operate the lift and use the cloakroom.

• Working in the background

Cataloguing the internal library, creating an inventory or digitising condition reports: There is always work that volunteers can help with in the background under the guidance of the team. These are usually one-off, smaller assignments.

Every year, we are also looking for volunteers to help out during the annual Flowers to Art exhibition in March. There are also a variety of opportunities for direct contact with visitors. You will greet and inform visitors, carry out a visitor survey, help in the cloakroom or with merchandise management in the shop.
