At first glance, AI-generated images and texts seem incredibly creative. But does the computer really have an ‘idea’, or is it just crunching numbers? In this talk, data scientist Claudio Paonessa takes a look behind the scenes of these colourful images. He explains in simple terms how the technology works and explores the fascinating question: where does mathematics end and true creativity begin?

Since 2024, Claudio Paonessa has been giving regular talks at the Stadtmuseum Aarau on the latest AI trends and the associated social changes. He puts these rapid developments into context, illustrates them with practical examples, and offers tips and tricks for using AI in everyday life. The talks are aimed at a wide audience and are accessible to people with or without prior experience of AI.

This talk will take place in the Freiraum at the Aargauer Kunsthaus.
