In the exhibition rooms, learners encounter root creatures painted on Japanese paper. They also encounter large-format canvases on which blue ink has been painted fluidly and glazed over and into each other. What do these shapes remind us of? Are they flowers, landscapes or even figures? In the middle of the next room are countless potted plants covered with colourful fabrics. Cycle 1 learners consider which animal could live in this imaginative plant forest and draw it. Classes from Cycle 2 onwards sketch a plant detail, which is later revisited in the studio. In the studio, the classes design their own fantasy plants using fabric remnants.
