Under the guidance of a trained mediator, people living with dementia enthusiastically develop a shared story based on a selected artwork from the Aargauer Kunsthaus collection. What is said is recorded and gradually woven into a coherent narrative. The programme is supported by trained volunteers. Family members are welcome to observe this creative process. The art discussion concludes with a relaxed get-together over coffee and cake.
The project takes place eight times a year (four events each in spring and autumn) and brings together everything that is desirable in a social intervention in the field of dementia: it highlights the creative potential of people with dementia, breaks down barriers within and to museums, and enables cultural participation in a dementia-friendly environment.
