Together apart
The 1970s and Aarau
There is a spirit of optimism in the air: a willingness to experiment, new forms of collaboration and artistic diversity characterise the Swiss art scene of the 1970s. In this electrifying atmosphere, different styles flourish side by side on an equal footing.
Aarau also becomes a focal point during this period: the Ziegelrain studio community was home to artists who found inspiration in international trends such as Nouveau Réalisme, Pop Art and conceptual approaches. Together apart shows manifestations of these trends at local and national level.
With works from the collections of Monika Dillier, Heiner Kielholz, Max Matter, Christian Rothacher, Ilse Weber and others.
