Winter Worlds is an exhibition that, in drawing on the museum’s holdings, looks at works and bodies of work that illustrate, in radically different ways, the peculiarities of winter. The cold season of the year has its specific spaces and situations: snow-covered landscapes and mountains alternating with grey and yellow luminous skies, the warm and cosy home becoming a place of withdrawal and the outside perspective turning into an inside one. The grand gesture is supplanted by the quiet sign. Rough experiences contrast with poetical and melancholy moments. The exhibition creates distinctive atmospheric spaces, inviting to discover various aspects of aesthetic expression.
