At the same time as our exhibition Johannes Robert Schürch. Seeing all will be accompanied by a cabinet exhibition of the artist’s drawings at AHOI Space in Lucerne from 23 October – 20 November 2024. Even during his lifetime, Johannes Robert Schürch was described as a ‘painter of misery’. Today, the central themes of his work have once again become sadly topical. However, Schürch, who can be considered Switzerland’s most existentialist artist, is characterised by the ‘but’: in all the misery he depicts, there are always quiet moments of affection, compassion and humanity.
