Landscapes can appear rugged, charming, menacing or idyllic. In a cross-period comparison, the classes explore different depictions of landscapes and share their observations within the group. In the art studio, students in Cycle 1 create their own landscapes using gouache and brushes. From Cycle 2 onwards, they experiment with the techniques of colour perspective and the gradation of landscape elements, using brushes or sponges.
