In the exhibition, the classes examine works of art on the theme of portraiture. Whilst comparing painted (self-)portraits, they discuss different painting techniques and share their theories about the origins of the subjects depicted. To what extent do photographic self-portraits by artists differ from the selfies we take ourselves? Background information on the artists, techniques or thematic references enriches the analysis of the works.
