Why is this deceptively real tree stump chiselled out of stone square? On the ground floor, students are immersed in a sensual sound and spatial installation. The class discusses questions and learns background information about the works and artists. Inspired by the diverse shapes in the exhibition, the students in cycle 1 model their own imaginary creatures out of clay in the studio. From cycle 2 onwards, each learner draws two lots: This results in combinations such as ‘soft cobblestone’ or ‘angular grapes’. The class models these alienated, curious, unusual objects at a large table.
